The Master of Action is Back!

You may have heard of John McTiernan. Or maybe not. But I GUARANTEE you’ve heard of a small little indie movie he directed.

Then there was this other obscure little flick he helmed…

And, of course, this little-seen, much-overlooked nautical tale…

Well, McTiernan has been AWOL from Hollywood for a LONG time (last movie bowed in 2003), but he’s at last returned to directing. It’s only a commercial for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, but still… maybe he’s back for real.

We can only hope.

The Ultimate Awesomeness of John Wick!

I’m a fan of action movies. Love ’em, love ’em, love ’em.

So when an action movie comes along that is well written and interesting, and involves a bad man trying to leave his misdeeds behind him and go straight, AND a revenge plot, well I’m provisionally on board. And when it further involves incredibly well choreographed and shot fight sequences that are fresh and, frankly, amazing, I’m very on board. And THEN, when it totally eschews hyper-cutting and shaky cam, that hits me right in the “This is the exact movie I was looking for, so thank you, thank you, thank you.” And that’s John Wick.

I hate shaky cam. And, having just seen the shaky-camiest movie maybe ever—Resident Evil: The Final Chapter—I am once again reminded of why the action scenes in John Wick were so incredible.

And if that weren’t enough, here’s the cool interview with Keanu Reeves & co.

Resident Evil: Twice the Trailers!

Two trailers for the almost-here Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

First—The Truth!

Next—The End!

The Resident Evil movies won’t ever be on anybody’s list of GREAT AND IMPORTANT CINEMA, but really who gives a flip? They’re FAST-PACED, ENTERTAINING, and FUN.

And in this day and age, where most movies compete to be the most preachy and pretentious drek they can be, that’s nothing to sneer at.

So, Stargate Wasn’t Perfect. Who Cares?

No, Stargate wasn’t perfect. And by Stargate, I mean the original movie.

That’s the one.

It had plot holes a million miles wide, but it was still fast-paced, fun, and entertaining. But what were some of the holes? TO THE VIDEO!

Ah heck, even though I liked Stargate, the video is funny anyway.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter!

The last… before the last of the reboot, that is…

Some people like to sneer, because the RE series is nothing more than fun, fast-paced zombie killing action flicks. “Screw them!”, I say. That’s why I love the movies—what more could you ask for?

Back to Raccoon City, back to the Hive, back to the Red Queen. Alright. Alright, alright, alright.

Looks like January will be a good month.
