(Which we kinda sorta were a couple of weeks ago.) …Uproxx has a great little article on the behind-the-scenes battles between Tombstone and Wyatt Earp, two Westerns covering Earp and the OK Corral that were released within 6 months of each other. (After a 20-year-gap since anyone had done anything related to the famed Kansas lawdog.)
The battles included Costner blockading Tombstone at all the major studios and Tombstone cornering the market on period costumes before Earp’s production could rent any, forcing them to search worldwide for replacements. Hollywood feuds are as dirty and spiteful as any you ever heard of, and this article demonstrates that perfectly. Give it a read.
